POLLUTION AND ITS CONSEQUENCES.

The world is rapidly urbanizing with significant changes in our living standards, lifestyles, social behavior and health. These changes can affect the environment because the nature was in balance before the human activities. However, the develop the industries came to supply their needs as it is the case of Medellin, specifically in the south.

The man is a weapon of destruction for the environment because he cannot measure the damages that is causing to the world. For example, when a person creates an industry is not conscious of the waste that he is putting on nature, especially in the air. The pollution is one of the air pollutants that is affecting the environment and the people, who live in big industrial cities. When people think about air pollution, they usually think about smog, but what the people do not know, is that the pollution can also exist inside their homes. In the smog there are present many chemical substances that affect people health.

Urban air pollution kills around 1.2 million people each year around the world, mainly due to cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. A major proportion of urban air pollution is caused by motor vehicles, although industrial pollution, electricity generation and in least developed countries household fuel combustion are also major contributors

In the last years, pollution has been increasing in Medellin because of contaminated wind comes from many industries located in the south, and all the contamination cannot go out the “valle de aburra” because there is a layer of hot wind that covers the Aburra valley, and on it there is a cold one that does not let the wind rise and go out. Also, the mountains like “el alto de san Miguel” do not let the air circulate out of the valley.

Cities around the world are making many decontamination projects because they are nothing that their lifes are directly related to the environment, and with technological, and industrial development they are not only destructing the world but also their lifes.

Finally, pollution can affect people health killing many people around the word, and these problems are caused by human activities altering the normal cycle of nature. Each person has to be aware about the damages that come with the development.
